This is what you need to know about the CO2 reporting obligation

Since 1 July 2024, you’re obliged to report work-related mobility of persons (WPM). But what does this mean for companies? Here’s everything you need to know.

What is the CO2 registration?

Companies with over 100 employees will be subject to this new rule. Specifically: since July 2024 you’re obliged to report on the business traffic and commuting of your employees. This is the CO2 reporting obligation. You report all kilometres for every type of transport and fuel.

Your business trips with Greenwheels fall within the scope of this regulation. To help you out, we’ve created a convenient overview in our app. As the new regulation came into effect in mid-2024, you can choose to submit data for the past six months or over the entire year. In the future, you’ll need to report this on an annual basis.

What information do I need to provide about my shared car usage?

For the CO2 registration, you need to report the number of business kilometres per calendar year. You must differentiate between kilometres travelled in a petrol car and an electric car. We will keep track of this for you; all you need to do is copy this data for your CO2 registration.

Where can I find this information in my Greenwheels account?

  1. Go to your Greenwheels account in the app
  2. Click on ‘Trip history’
  3. Click on ‘Kilometre overview’

Here, you’ll find the number of kilometres driven, both with petrol and electric cars.
